#0058 "Chester"

From the autumn of 1977...
Chester was my brother's big and strong Chesapeake Bay Retriever...his first dog. He used this painting as a background for his "Burritt's Rapids Kennels" Business Card. Chester died much too soon and not long after this painting was completed. He was a great and loyal dog.

This was my 58th step along my artistic journey. I loved the challenge of making something come alive in oils. The eyes actually glisten and Chester's nose was moist and smelling things in a different world way beyond the simple senses of a human.
For this and much more art...

  1. You made him look majestic ,Phil. Truly a powerful portrait of a special canine.
He's loved, appreciated and he knows it and reflects it back. That's a very special memory.
