#2114 "Southampton Gerry and Chantry Light"

The group from the Southampton Art School's Wind Waves and Weather 2018 planned to spend the final day at the beach. I was at Gerrys Fast Food by 7:30 am on Tuesday May 29th. I planned to have another demonstration painting almost completed by the time the participants arrived. The most important part of any painting might be to know when to step away from the easel.

Southampton was officially on the cold side of the warm front but the May sun would soon erase that. The land breeze was pleasantly cool and the Southampton beach was very quiet. I painted away awaiting the arrival of the participants. The only sound was the waves on the beach until the back hoe with the beach rake attachment on front showed up at 8 am. The back up beeping and the roar of the diesel changed the atmosphere a bit.

Cirrostratus was invading from the west with the warm conveyor belt of the approaching summer storm. There were some gravity waves in the cloud at the tropopause.
I concentrated on the tones and colours. It was fun painting on the very rough panel.
For this and much more art...
