#2116 "Southampton Saugeen Amphitheatre Hidden Garden"

The group from the Southampton Art School's Wind Waves and Weather 2018 had planned to spend all of the final day at the beach. The sun would have burnt us to a crisp so we had to leave the beach for the afternoon session.

The First Nations Amphitheater was suggested so we went. Something must have happened in the past few years. The stone benches and railing were fallen down. The gardens had not been tended for some time. Caution tape marked off areas where it was unsafe to go. Very sad indeed. It had been so beautiful and inviting when I visited a few years previously. Just a few years before people were happy and smiling and enjoying the beauty of the place overlooking the Saugeen River. I painted the secret garden at the end of a dark path between rock walls that were still standing. Warblers were migrating and flitting through the tree branches. It was nice to be in the shade and out of the late May sun.

Everyone was done by 4:30 pm. A day in the sun and the wind can exhaust almost anyone.
 For this and much more...
