#2879 "Dumoine White Pine Twisted Roots"

from very near N46.466390 W77.768049. 

I was quietly up and gone on Thursday morning, August 1st before anyone else had stirred. I did not even wait for the coffee to be brewed. I paddled through the morning mist across the Dumoine River to the nearest sandy beach. There was an old white pine waiting for me. 

The roots of the tree were very exposed in the sandy soils. Countless canoes have been pulled up on that beach. 

This is also the point occupied by the large bench made by Bill Mason. It was installed there for the comfort of the Dumoine trippers. Ruth, one of our CPAWS DRAW group spent the week painting the bench as a wonderful tribute to Bill. 

A large garter snake called this point home. I saw it several times during the week. 

This is number sixteen of thirty-five paintings I completed en plein air at CPAWS DRAW 2024.
