#2880 "Dumoine White Pine Cool Shadows" Oils on stretched canvas 10 X 8 (inches). Started 8:45 am Thursday, August 1st, 2024 from very near N46.466492 W77.768100. |
The August sun had burnt away the early morning mist while I painted #2879 "Dumoine White Pine Twisted Roots". I decided to stay in the cool shadows and observe the other side of the large, white pine. Every tree is an individual with a multi-faceted personality. The large garter snake kept me company while I painted.
This particular campsite on the Dumoine would have been a favourite among trippers. The camp featured several large tent sites with plenty of shade and a very large firepit.
This is number seventeen of thirty-five paintings I completed en plein air at CPAWS DRAW 2024. It was a wonderful experience with a terrific group of people. https://cpaws-ov-vo.org/draw-retreat-artists/ A portion of sales from this endeavour will go to support CPAW and keep the 'wild' in the wilderness.
